City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 12, 2019 <br /> <br />Council Member Montain and Council Member Koski accepted the friendly amendment to <br />the motion with corrections stated above. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. Setting Workshop Agenda <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that he has received several suggestions from Council Members for <br />work session topics. He stated that he desired to receive comment from Council as to the Request <br />for Council Action outline for meetings. It was stated that Administrator Statz and Mayor Paar <br />spoke regarding additional meetings also. Council Member Love stated that there are more and <br />more items to discuss and that maybe a retreat would be a good idea. Administrator Statz stated <br />that they are not uncommon for a Council and could happen once or twice a year. Council Member <br />Love stated that the League has one retreat per year and a large amount of business is covered <br />during the session. Discussion ensued regarding being in town versus out of town. <br /> <br />Discussion also ensued regarding work sessions prior to meetings and follow meetings, meeting <br />on Saturday mornings, the length of meetings, the amount of items that remain to be discussed, <br />the budget, two retreats per year, and the schedule submitted by Administrator Statz. It was felt <br />that the schedule was acceptable and that all would be sent an Outlook invite as a reminder of the <br />5:30 p.m. start and item(s) of discussion. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that due to computer issues he was unsuccessful on completing his <br />Administrator/Engineer Report in written form. He provided Council with an update of important <br />items: the success of the City receiving the Downtown CDBG watermain grant and that the City <br />would be forwarding letters to residents shortly. He stated that the water tower external cleaning <br />has been completed and the internal inspection is scheduled. He reported that there would be two <br />more meetings prior to Fete des Lacs. He stated that this year there were of 20 gold level sponsors. <br />He thanked the Centerville Lions for all of their hard work associated with Fete des Lacs. He also <br />reported that the soil borings had been received and Block 7 has a very high water table and an <br />underground parking ramp will be impossible. He stated that he would be discussing these findings <br />with Trident and attempting to ensure that they desire to continue to move forward. He reported <br />that Midwest Best Water would be closing shortly and that the City would be issuing a grading <br />permit for Old Mill Estates following a preconstruction meeting. Administrator Statz stated that <br />it is expected that the roadway will be completed in June with permits being issued in July. He <br />also reported on the Anoka County Marketing Event “Up River” which was being held again this <br />year. He stated that Rhonda Sivarajah had been appointed as the Anoka County Administrator <br />which would cause a Special Election for the vacated Commissioner seat (District 6). He stated <br />that this election would be held in February of 2020 and the anticipated cost would be $6,000. He <br />stated that several communities will be speaking with the board regarding the potential for <br />reimbursement. <br /> <br />Council Member Lakso stated that she attended the recent Parks & Recreation Committee meeting <br />where discussions took place regarding budget balances and availability of funds for equipment at <br />various parks.
