City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 14, 2019 <br /> <br />ii. Park & Rec. – Council Member Montain reported that he had <br />attending the August 7, 2019 P & R Meeting where the Committee <br />swore in Kathy Freiermuth as a new member, they discussed what <br />went well and did not go well with Fete des Lacs, reviewed the <br />budget, park dedication fees and the purchase of Hidden Spring <br />Park/trail project and that the Movie in the Park event is scheduled <br />for September 14, 2019 with a rain date of September 21, 2019. He <br />stated that the Committee had received a $500 donation from the <br />Centerville Lions and that they wished to thank them. <br />iii. <br />e. Paar <br /> <br />Mayor Paar stated that he and Administrator Statz met with a developer who <br />was interested in building homes in Centerville recently. Mayor Paar stated <br />that they discussed land that was available and he and Administrator Statz felt <br />that the developer was reputable and would provide Centerville with a quality <br />development. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar stated that he and Administrator Statz had attended an Anoka <br />County Regional Economic Development meeting at Running Aces where a <br />marketing event was hosted calling attention to the outer suburbs as a <br />technology corridor providing suitable land for data and technology companies <br />due to the availability of fiber optics. He stated that several commercial were <br />made with one (1) being played at the recent golf tournament in Blaine. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar thanked neighborhoods for participating in Night to Unite and he <br />also thanked the Centennial Lakes Police Department and Centennial Fire <br />District for their participation and youth involvement. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar thanked all members of the Council stating that they all are <br />involved in various activities outside of serving on Council. He stated that their <br />dedication and commitment to the City is wonderful. <br /> <br />Council Member Koski thanked the Mayor for his dedicated service as he <br />represents the City at many meetings outside of Council. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that the Economic Development Authority (EDA) <br />would be holding an Open House for the Business Loan/Grant Program on <br />August 21, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. and invited all businesses to attend. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz reported that due to Rhonda Sivarajah’s Commission seat <br />vacancy, the City would be represented by Commissioners Schulte and <br />Braastad until the election in February. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the importance of filling this vacancy with a well- <br />rounded Commissioner, that there would be a primary (as more than two (2) <br />Page 7 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
