City of Centerville <br />Park & Recreation Committee <br />September 4, 2019 <br />• 5K & 8K Runs — There were approximately 60+ participants; it was highly <br />recommended that a professional Race Director be hired for 2020 to work with Mr. <br />Pat Branch — the search for a Race Director should begin soon; it was also <br />recommended to have the run course(s) be certified at an approximate cost of <br />$225.00. <br />• Paddle Boat Race — There were 19 boats & 50 participants in this event; Wargo <br />supplied a canoe and there were 3 canoe paddles given as prizes. <br />• Budgets — There need to be 2 separate budgets for the Fete des Lacs Festival: one <br />specifically for the runs and the other for all other costs/aspects of the Festival. <br />Motion made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee <br />Member Seeley to recommend to the City Council to budget $12,000 for the <br />2020 Fete des Lacs Festival. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />Motion made by Committee Member Errickson-Grahek, seconded by <br />Committee Member Peterson to recommend to the City Council to approve <br />the Logo Contest for both elementary and middle school students with prizes <br />up to $250.00. <br />2. 19-026 2020 Parks and Recreation Committee Operational Budget <br />The Committee reviewed the most current financials for the P & R operations and <br />programs which include Music in the Park, Movie in the Park, Skate Nights, Fete de <br />Lacs 5K & 8K Runs, etc. <br />Motion made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member <br />Errickson-Grahek to recommend to the City Council to budget $15,000 for the <br />2020 Parks and Recreation Committee programs. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />3. 19-011 Lights for Sledding Hill <br />After a bid of $14,000 was received for install a pole and lighting at the Sledding <br />Hill, Mr., Mark Statz offered to check on the cost of a solar light(s). The cost <br />notwithstanding, there could be a potential for light pollution to neighboring homes. <br />This item was tabled to the October P & R meeting. <br />4. 19-022 Handicap Swing(s) for Wheelchair, Ms. Freiermuth <br />Committee Member Freiermuth will report on the status of this item at the October <br />meeting. <br />5. 19-023 Are all Parks Handicap Accessible? <br />Page 2 of 5 <br />
