City of Centerville <br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />December 2, 2014 <br />The Commission received a written comment from Elizabeth Rantala, 2018 Willow <br />Circle, which was read aloud, the comments indicating that she was concerned for all <br />the cars parked on the site. She had read the draft CUP and does not object as long as <br />the city enforces the permit. <br /> <br />After everyone who wished to do so was given an opportunity to speak in regard to <br />the proposed use, a motion was made by Commissioner Koski, seconded by <br />Commissioner Montain to close the public hearing. All present voted in favor. The <br />motion was declared passed. <br /> <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS – None <br /> <br />V. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1) Draft Report and Recommendation for approval of Conditional Use Permit – 7087 <br />th <br />20 Avenue, Alex’s Landscaping. <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the proposed permit and the draft document. The applicant <br />asked to allow fuels to be stored on site, so a provision was added to the permit to allow <br />three 500 gallon tanks, as long as they meet current Fire Codes. After some discussion, the <br />draft permit was modified to require reporting of fuel spills of more than five gallons (was <br />one gallon). <br />Motion by Commissioner Koski, seconded by Commissioner Wood to adopt the findings and <br />recommendation in favor of the proposed conditional use. All present voted in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />th <br />2) Request for Conditional Use Permit – 7139 20 Avenue, Shane’s Auto <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the proposed permit and draft permit. The permit was <br />modified to allow up to twelve vehicles awaiting repair, provided they are stored in <br />the fenced area east of the building and requirement for parking on a paved surface <br />was removed as the site has recycled asphalt surface.. The requirement to report spills <br />of fuel was modified to five gallons. The permit will allow repaird vehicles to be <br />stored up to three days on the site. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Koski, seconded by Commissioner Wood to adopt the findings and <br />recommendation in favor of the proposed conditional use. All present voted in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS - <br /> <br />Commissioners were asked if they wished to continue on P&Z in the coming year, as the <br />Council approves appointments in January. Commissioners are to notify Administrator <br />Ericson if they wish to be removed. None indicated that they wished to leave P&Z. <br /> <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />
