City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 25, 2020 <br />by Council, it becomes effective. He stated that the order of succession would prevail and Council <br />Member Love would assume his position of Vice Mayor, running the meeting, as normally occurs <br />in the absence of the Mayor. <br />Mayor Paar stated that he is experiencing some personal challenges, desired to thank his family, <br />neighbors, the public, staff, previous staff and previous Council Members for their hard work and <br />advice. He also thanked all Committees/Commissions, the Centerville Lions, the Centennial Lakes <br />Police Department and Centennial Fire District for their outstanding delivery of services and <br />friendships that have been made over the years. He stated that without all of these people and <br />organizations, the City and the direction that Council desires to take it would not be possible. He <br />also stated that the Centennial School District are wonderful and residents should be grateful that <br />they are progressive and parent oriented. He also thanked the local papers and North Metro TV <br />for the opportunities that they provide the residents. <br />Mayor Paar thanked all Council Members individually for their various qualities that they have <br />brought to the Council and have learned over the years of serving their community. Mayor Paar <br />encouraged future Councils to research issues diligently before they make decisions in the future <br />and look back at what other Council have considered. <br /> <br />Council Member Love read an email from Centennial Lakes Police Chief Coan stating that Mayor <br />Paar had served as a dedicated public servant, thanked him for his support and he stated that he <br />felt that Mayor Paar left a legacy in community service and that he was a great steward of the City. <br /> <br />All Council Members thanked Mayor Paar for his recognition of their attributes and shared their <br />appreciation for him and his dedication to the community. They also wished him the best in his <br />future endeavors. <br />Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Love to Adopt Res. #20- <br />as Submitted. A roll-call vote was taken. <br />Council Member Lakso, Love, Koski, Montain & Paar voted in favor. Motion carried. <br />2. Appointment of New Mayor <br />Administrator Statz stated that Council did not have to appoint a new Mayor this evening and had <br />the option of appointing someone from the public or someone from the Council. Council Member <br />Lakso had no thoughts that she desired to share, Council Member Koski stated that he could think <br />of several individuals that would fulfill the role well and stated two (2) Council Members Love <br />and Montain if they desired. Council Member Montain stated that both he and Council Member <br />Love have expressed their interest in serving in the capacity. Ex-Mayor Paar commented that <br />Council Member Love would be well suited for the position with his professionalism, experience <br />and leadership skills. <br />Page 3 of 6 <br /> <br />
