City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 25, 2020 <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Koski to Appoint Council <br />Member D. Love as Mayor. A roll-call vote was taken. Council Member Lakso, Love, Koski <br />& Montain voted in favor. Motion carried. <br />Administrator Statz administered the Oath of Office for Mayor to Council Member Love. <br />D. Love assumed the duties of the office of Mayor. <br />3. <br />City Attorney Glaser stated that now that Mr. Love had assumed the position of Mayor, the Council <br />previously held City Council seat. He stated <br />that the person appointed to the seat would serve until January 2021 and there would be a special <br />election concurrent with the regular election with the seat being for two (2) years allowing for the <br />staggering of seats to continue. Administrator Statz explained that the position could be filled <br />using any process the Council desired. <br />Motion by Council Member Montain, seconded by Council Member Koski to Adopt Res. <br />A roll-call vote was taken. <br />Council Member Lakso, Love, Koski & Montain voted in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4. Appointment of New City Council Member <br /> <br />City Attorney Glaser stated that individuals that are eligible may be appointed and that there are <br />no set rules for appointment. Administrator Statz stated that the City has received a letter of <br />interest from former Mayor Wilharber for the vacancy. <br /> <br />Council discussion ensued regarding filling the position this evening, the receipt of one (1) <br />candidate letter of interest, application period, process for interviews/letters of interest, <br />opportunity to serve without campaigning, the use of the Personnel Committee for interviews, <br />Administrator Statz receiving applications and candidate submittals will determine the process <br />going forward for appointment. Consensus was that the application deadline will be April 2, if <br />more than three (3) candidates the Personnel Committee will meet to narrow the candidates to <br />three (3) with the remaining candidates to appear at a work session on April 8, 2020 for an <br />interview. <br />Motion by Council Member Montain, seconded by Council Member Lakso to Allow for the <br />Application Process and if More Than Three (3) Applicants the Personnel Committee Will <br />Be Utilized to Narrow the Candidates to Three (3) Who Will Appear Before Council On <br />April 8, 2020.
