Centerville 2040 Comprehensive Plan <br /> <br /> <br />T RAFFIC A LLOCATION <br />projections for their roadway system. <br />P LANNED I MPROVEMENTS TO R OADWAY S YSTEM <br />None of the planned improvements to the metropolitan highway system listed in the <br />Transportation Policy Plan directly affect the City of Centerville. <br />In the fall of 2007, CSAH 14 began reconstruction. The roadway was reconstructed over a 3- <br />year period from I-35W to I-35E. The improvements included the addition of a center turn lane <br />throughout the downtown area. Additionally, a median restricts access at several locations on <br />the east end of the City. In response to thi <br />stth <br />to connect 21 Ave. with 20 Ave., allowing better access to local businesses and a way for <br />locals to move throughout town without having to make U-turns. <br />The City anticipates a similar style reconstruction of CSAH 21 in the three-block area of <br />downtown. This project will likely be initiated by the City through its downtown redevelopment <br />plan. <br />The City has a number of planned improvements to its local collector road system. Those <br />improvements are shown on Map 6-1. These improvements will be made as development <br />occurs. <br />Connection between Land Use and Transportation <br />The City recognizes the connection between land use, natural resource protection and <br />transportation planning. City policies guide land use to be compatible with both existing natural <br />resources as well as local and regional transportation facilities. <br />14 and the future reconstruction of CSAH 21. Additionally, the guiding of property on the south <br />side of Main Street (CSAH 14) between Progress Road and City Hall from low density residential <br />to mixed use development will capitalize on the anticipated increase in average daily traffic as <br />well as move single family residential away from a highly trafficked roadway. <br />The City has not conducted any recent corridor studies regarding roadway improvements. <br /> <br /> <br /> Page 79 <br /> <br /> <br />
