Centerville 2040 Comprehensive Plan <br /> <br /> <br />It is the policy of the City of Centerville to: <br />Develop land use development standards that promote safe and efficient access to <br />the transportation system. <br />Develop land uses and access spacing guidelines compatible with the functional <br />classification of the regional highway system. <br />Establish a local transportation network which preserves neighborhood identity while <br />linking together neighborhoods, community parks and facilities. <br />Identify long term transportation corridors to provide access to and within the City <br />as development occurs. <br />Identify potential trail corridors for long term linkage to neighborhoods, public parks <br />and businesses and construct those trails as funding allows. <br />Coordinate transportation planning and system improvements with surrounding <br />communities as well as Anoka County and the Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation. <br />Work with the Metro Transit to maximize transit opportunities for the community. <br />P ARK AND R ECREATION G OALS AND P OLICIES <br />It is the goal of the City of Centerville to: <br />Provide convenient active and passive recreation opportunities that serve all the <br />residents of Centerville. <br />Build new and upgrade existing park properties and trails with ecologically sound <br />and sustainable materials, where possible. <br />Establish a biking/hiking trail system connecting the City parks and residential <br />neighborhoods. <br />Provide adequate expansion of parks and recreation areas in proposed residential <br />developments. <br />Provide safe and convenient bicycle and pedestrian access to community <br />recreational facilities. <br />Utilize and preserve parks and recreation opportunities on the shores of <br />Centerville and Peltier Lakes with appropriate sustainable practices in mind. <br />Promote or provide recreational facilities and programs to serve the varied <br />recreational needs of all age groups in the City. <br />It is the policy of the City of Centerville to: <br />Develop a trail access plan which provides interconnection of major parks, <br />recreation areas, schools, commercial nodes, the Central Business District as well <br /> Page 26 <br /> <br /> <br />
