LaMotte Park Stormwater Reuse System Expansion
Staff is recommending award of the contract for the LaMotte Park Stromwater Reuse System
Expansion on this agenda. Also, on this City Council agenda is the agreement with St. Paul
Regional Water Service, allowing the portion of the project to be constructed on their
property.

Staff is actively negotiating agreements with St. Genevieve’s Church, and the Met
Council to allow the placement of the irrigation system on their respective properties.
The contract award will be made in such a way as to leave the construction of facilities on
St. Genevieve’s property and Met Council property contingent upon execution of
agreements with the final two parties.

SEWER AND WATER

Wellhead Protection Plan
City staff have reviewed the draft of Part 2 of the City’s Wellhead Protection Plan, as put
together by our consultants. Once our comments have been incorporated, we will submit
the plan to surrounding jurisdictions for review. A few highlights of the plan include future
projects such as sealing abandoned wells and fixing or lining leaking sewer mains and
services within the Emergency Response Area (ERA), which is the area closest to the city’s
well.

Watermain Interconnect
The new meter has been installed and we are waiting on the SCADA connection.

2020 Downtown Street and Utility Improvements
CenterPoint Energy has informed us of their intent to finish their replacement of the old
gas main in the downtown area by making the switch to the recently installed new main.
They will be seeking voluntary entrance into homes to relight pilot lights on appliances.
If they are able to gain access to all homes in a particular area, they will be able to
abandon the old main in that neighborhood. This would let our contractor in to finish
construction of the water main, storm sewer and roads.

Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve Maintenance Facility Sewer Hook-up
With the city’s comprehensive plan now approved, the Met Council was now able to
approve the sewer extension permit for this project. The city has issued the permit and
construction can now be completed.

PARKS AND RECREATION

Facebook Comment:
Murray Wilke - I really have appreciated the city trails on the south side of town.
