accountability for both our officers and the public. Thank you Lt. Blanck for your 20+ years
of service to our department!

COVID-19
In general, our officers are healthy and have the necessary Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE). One officer did contract the virus, but has made a full recovery and is back on duty
after a full quarantine period. A few others have been tested, but turned up negative.

Centennial Fire District
Fire District Organizational Study
The organizational study of the fire department has begun. Initial data gathering tasks
have been completed and our consultant is in the early stages of their evaluation.

COVID-19
In general, our firefighters are healthy and have the necessary Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE). In-person training has resumed. However, the department has also launched an
online training platform as a supplement to their regular program.

Duty Crew
The department has hired one permanent, part-time duty crew member. She is working
Monday through Friday on a 6 AM to Noon shift out of the Circle Pines fire station.

Recent Structure Fire
We had a house fire Beaver Pond Way which resulted in a total loss. No one was home at the time of
the fire and no one was injured. Crews were able to spare adjacent homes from damage. Our crews,
along with trucks from Lino Lakes, Hugo and Lexington responded to the scene. It appears the cause
of the fire was smoking related.

Retirement
Chief Harlan Lundstrom has announced his retirement, effective July 1, 2020, after 31 years
in the fire service. We wish Harlan all the best in retirement and thank him for his service to
our community. Not wanting to bring a new chief on board in the midst of an organizational
study, the Fire Steering Committee has decided to contract with former chief Jerry Streich to
act as Interim Co-Chief with Kathy Peil, our current Training Chief. The two of them will
navigate the next few months as the study is completed and a new Chief is selected.
