PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> <br />Committee Vacancy <br />The parks committee has one open seat and is looking for candidate. Please apply on the <br />Application for Committee Appointment <br /> <br />Music in the Park <br />With the everchanging rules from the State regarding outdoor recreation activities, the Parks and Rec <br />Committee is looking to explore an abbreviated Music In The Park series. The Committee will <br />discuss this at their July 1 meeting. <br /> <br />Fete des Lacs Logo Contest <br />Special T-shirts were made with the winning logo <br />Lacs being cancelled. The committee wanted to make sure the work put in by the winning <br />artists was recognized and that they would have a keepsake to commemorate their efforts. <br />The T-shirts and prize money were delivered along with a letter from the Mayor. <br /> <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> <br />Anoka County <br />Anoka County has a new emergency management dashboard, related to COVID-19. You can take a <br />look at it here: Anoka County COVID-19 Dashboard <br /> <br />Centennial Lakes Police Department <br />Chief Search <br />The search for a new Police Chief is over. Welcome, <br />Chief Jim Mork! Jim comes to us via the Fridley Police <br />Department where he is currently Lieutenant of their <br />Investigations Division. The search process vetted more <br />than 25 candidates for the job. Ultimately, Mr. Mork <br />was selected by the Governing board after interviews <br />with 4 different panels of stakeholders, including <br />internal police staff, city administrators, the governing <br />board and a group of local police chiefs. <br /> <br />Retirements <br />Chief Coan has agreed to stay on for short time after <br />Chief Mork takes the reigns, in order to ensure a smooth <br />transition. Once that transition is complete, our Chief <br />will be retiring after 30+ years in law enforcement. <br />Thank you Chief Coan for spending the last 10 years of your career, guiding our department. <br />Who know the last 4 months of your career would be so interesting. <br /> <br />Also retiring in July will be Lieutenant Russ Blanck, our investigative and administrative <br />leader. Rus has been instrumental in helping the department navigate complex cases <br />involving multiple agencies, including the FBI, leading to large drug seizures and important <br />arrests. He also led the implementation of the body-worn camera program, ahead of many <br />other departments. The program has been invaluable in promoting transparency and <br /> <br />
