Objective 9: Collect additional data to better define the age of water in the City’s wells.
Action 9A: Sample relevant wells for compounds which can better define the age
of water in theCity’swell(s).
Who: MDH
Cooperators: City of CentervilleStaff
When: 2023
Effort: Sampling costs, staff time
How:Request that the MDH collect their standard assessment monitoring
package of waterquality samples from Well 2 by the fifth year of plan
implementation. This samplingincludes tritium, nitrates, ammonia,
sulfate, chloride, and bromide. This sample willhelp determine if the
previous sample result remains consistent. Also consider testing Well 1
to prepare for the possibility of putting this well back into regular
operation.
Status: Not currently implemented.
Action 9B: Examine Well 2 to determine if there is an avenue for younger water to
enter the well.
Who: MDH
Cooperators: City of CentervilleStaff
When: When next well rehabilitation occurs
Effort: Well video inspection fees, staff time.
How: Examine possible avenues for younger water to reach the Prairie du
Chien aquiferthrough Well 2. If Well 2 is rehabilitated over the course
of the next ten years, conduct a video camera survey, lookingfor
possible casingbreaches or leaks that could be allowing younger water
to reach the aquifer. Videoinspections are standard for many well
rehabilitation projects.
Status: Not currently implemented.
24
193803358
Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.
