Anoka County <br />Business Relief Grant <br />Program <br />A total of twelve (12) <br />Centerville businesses <br />applied for and have <br />been given preliminary <br />approval for $10,000 <br />grants through the <br />grant program during the <br />first round of <br />applications. Staff has <br />helped another three (3) businesses apply during the extended application period. The <br />eaning that there are more funds than <br />applicants. There is a possibility that some initial grant recipients may receive another <br />$10,000 on top of their original award, if they can show those expenses. <br /> <br />FINANCE <br />COVID-19 Relief Programs <br />The city has now received our federal funds for COVID-19 relief of $304,902. The funds <br />come to cities, through the CARES Act, offsetting expenses related to the pandemic. City <br />staff have evaluated expenses to date and those anticipated through November 15, 2020. A <br />draft plan for allocation of these funds has been presented to the city council. Proposed <br />funding may include: <br /> Direct expenses (hand sanitizer, PPE, remote work expenses, etc.) <br /> Construction project delay expenses <br /> City Hall renovation costs to adapt to COVID <br /> Police and Fire Department direct expenses and diverted staff time <br /> Public works and city hall diverted staff time <br /> School District Relief <br />North Metro TV direct expenses <br />The deadline for expending these funds is November 15, 2020. <br />2021 Budget <br />The City Council has been working hard on putting together the 2021 General Fund Budget <br />and Tax Levies. The most recently presented drafts would raise the levy by less than 1%. A <br />Preliminary Budget will be adopted by the City Council at its September 23 meeting. From <br />there, the budget and levies may be reduced, but not increased, prior to adoption of the final <br />versions in December. <br /> <br />
