City of Centerville <br /> Park & Recreation Committee <br />April 1, 2020 <br />Suggestion was made to have the Mayor inform the public of all activities scheduled or cancelled. <br />It was also suggested that the City be the main communication method for delivery of all messages. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz clarified that the cancelling of events is the Committee’s responsibility but <br />the Mayor surely could inform the public of their decisions. <br /> <br />5. Anoka County Health-Focused Grant – Statewide Health Improvement Partnership <br />(SHIP) <br />a. Review of submitted grant applications <br /> <br />Administrator Statz reported that two separate grants were submitted. He stated that one was for <br />a timing system associated with the run with Mr. Pat Branch taking part in discussions. He <br />reported that the grant was submitted with the most expensive option for purchase ($8,000) and it <br />could be paired down if funding was available in a lesser amount. He also stated that the second <br />grant was submitted for the Main Street Market with the purchase of picnic tables ($600), <br />advertising and marketing ($2,000). He stated that he would provide the Committee with <br />proposals/quote for marketing and advertising at their May meeting. Administrator Statz stated <br />that the City would be notified by April 15, 2020 of the County’s decision. <br /> <br />The Committee requested an email notification upon the County’s decision. <br /> <br />6. Sledding Hill Light <br />a. Approval of Bid Costs <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that the City has been successful in obtaining a grant associated with its <br />irrigation system in Laurie LaMotte Park. He stated that funds have been secured through <br />Metropolitan Council with an additional submission for grant funding from the Rice Creek <br />Watershed District (RCWD). He explained that the City is one of the first to complete such a <br />project in 2011 and was recognized for the project of utilizing stormwater run off for irrigation of <br />areas of the park. He stated that this reuse system provided the City with credits which would <br />offset required raingardens and construction of storm water ponds associated with road projects <br />and the downtown project. He also stated that if these requirements were placed on the City, they <br />would either have to fund the purchase of storm water credits or comply with requirements for <br />construction of these items which could require the use of existing City owned property or <br />purchasing property from private parties. <br /> <br />He reported that with the Downtown road project it was felt that an expansion of the system would <br />be instrumental for continued credits being generated. He stated that a bid has been obtained to <br />install three (3) additional watering guns which would allow for additional watering in Laurie <br />LaMotte Park, watering in Hidden Spring Park and watering of two (2) privately owned parcels <br />near the area (St. Paul Water Department and Church of St. Genevieve’s). He informed the <br />Committee that private agreements would be secured for the two (2) individual property owners <br />prior to installation of city infrastructure. <br /> <br />City Administrator Statz stated that with this bid, staff included the suggested additional lighting <br />that the Committee desired within the park.
