City of Centerville <br /> Park & Recreation Committee <br />March 4, 2020 <br /> Friday Evening Music: DJ or Live Band? <br /> Saturday Morning: runs, ice cream social at LaMotte <br /> Sunday – Water Ski Show? need to confirm <br /> <br /> VI. NEW COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Anoka County Health-Focused Grant Opportunities: (SHIP-Statewide Health <br />Improvement Partnership) (deadline 3-31-20) <br /> <br />Mini-grants of up to $3,000 per project, proposal may be applied for until March <br />31, 2020. Projects discussed using funds, if approved, for the CV Street Market, <br />Paddle Event during Fete des Lacs, fun run, canoe & paddle board locker, music, <br />healthy eating, yoga, etc. <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee <br />Member Errickson-Grahek to ask staff to make application for one or more of <br />the suggested activities as stated above.. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. City-wide Lighting Plan <br /> <br />With the recent donation of six (6) street light heads, the Public Works Department <br />recently completed a comprehensive evaluation of lighting needs around the city. <br />One of the lights has been earmarked for the sledding hill. Some other possible <br />locations include: around City Hall, by the ice rink, in LaMotte Park, Eagle Park, <br />around the lake, by tennis courts. Also discussed a re-vamp of the downtown area <br />and prioritize new lighting areas with new lights. <br /> <br />3. Spring Parks Clean-up <br /> <br />The Parks Clean-up will be scheduled for Sunday, April 19 with Committee <br />Member Peterson arriving around 1 p.m. with his Boy Scout Troop. Public Works <br />will be asked to provide safety vests, bags & gloves. <br /> <br />4. Music in the Park <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Lee, has coordinated this event for the past several years and has asked <br />Committee Member Peterson to take over this event this year. Mr. Lee has agreed <br />to help Mr. Peterson throughout the season. <br /> <br />VI. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES – February 5, 2020 <br /> <br /> Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member <br />Seeley to approve the minutes of the February 5, 2020 P & R Committee Meeting, <br />as written.
