City of Centerville <br />EDA Meeting Minutes <br />April 29, 2020 <br /> <br />c. Newspaper Ads <br /> <br />The commission discussed the possibility of highlighting local businesses by taking out newspaper <br />ads. <br /> <br />d. Lowering Commercial Water Rates <br /> <br />The commission decided that lowering water rates for commercial customers would not be well <br />received by residential customers. <br /> <br />e. Fete des Lacs Sponsorships <br /> <br />The commission decided that it was too early to discuss this, since the Committee had not met yet. <br /> <br />f. Centerville Bucks/Cougar Cash <br /> <br />The commission decided to table this discussion until more research was completed. <br /> <br />g. License Rebates (Liquor, tobacco, etc.) <br /> <br />Motion by President Hanzal, seconded by Commissioner Giovinazzo to recommend to <br />Council to prorate and rebate on-sale liquor license fees. A roll call vote was taken. All in <br />favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />h. North Metro TV – Interview a Business <br /> <br />There was discussion regarding asking North Metro TV to help create short ads highlighting local <br />businesses by visiting them and interviewing them with a few short questions. <br /> <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Visitation of other City boards <br /> <br />There was discussion on building a collaboration between EDA, Parks & Recreation and Planning <br />& Zoning in order for each committee to help support the others and foster more community <br />engagement. <br /> <br />2. City Statue <br /> <br />The possibility of long rang plans was discussed for a statue or other fixture to be installed as an <br />identity for the community, showcasing the city’s heritage. <br /> <br />IX.
