City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />December 2, 2020 <br />the LaMotte Park and Hidden Spring Park entrance monuments and Ms. Susan Love has committed to <br />adopt the City Hall Reader Board sign and flagpole gardens. <br /> <br />Rain Barrels: Committee Member Seeley <br /> <br />Volunteers: Committee Members should actively be recruiting volunteers and information/advertising <br />for volunteers could be accomplished through the utility bill, city wide email blast, social media, city <br />volunteers. <br /> <br />2a. Skate Night - January 8, 2021 <br /> <br />no gatherings and if these orders are extended to <br />January, then the Skate Night will have to be cancelled. <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member Peterson, to not cancel <br />the January 8, 2021 Skate Night, to move ahead with the marketing/advertising and make this <br />activity contingent upon the Covid restrictions, and to allow City staff to cancel this activity and <br />cease marketing should the Covid restrictions be extended. All in Favor with one Nay vote from <br />Committee Member Seeley. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2b. Skate Night - February 6, 2021 <br /> <br />The Skate Night for February will remain scheduled dependent on the Covid-19 restrictions in place at <br />the beginning of February. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />A grant was secured during summer 2020, in the amount of $2,900, to help fund the kick-off of the Main <br />Street Market, scheduled to have a 6 week run in July & August of 2020. Due to Covid-19, this activity <br />was cancelled. With the grant only being valid through 2020, staff has applied for a similar funding <br />source with no funding cycle timelines. The application has been completed and is awaiting approval. <br />The new grant, in the amount of $3,500, covers the same items as the original grant including the <br />purchase of 6 picnic benches, newspaper advertising and portable signage to promote the event. <br /> <br />Motion by Committee member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Waeghe, to approve the <br />submittal of the grant application for $3,500 for the 2021 Main Street Market, as presented. All in <br />favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />VI. NEW COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Centennial Youth Hockey Association Request <br /> <br />Mr. Peter Schmitt appeared on behalf of the CYHA to request the use of the LaMotte hockey rink for an <br />hour or two on a few nights of the week. <br />Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member Seeley, to approve <br />the following schedule and terms for the Centennial Youth Hockey Association: Use of the Laurie <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />
