PARKS AND RECREATION Parks and Recreation Committee The Parks and Recreation Committee met on December 2 and agreed to keep the Skate Nights on the schedule. If the tended into January, the events may need to be cancelled. Skate Nights Dates have now been set for our annual Skate Nights: Friday, January 8 and Saturday, February 6, 2021, from 6 to 9 PM. Mark your calendars. These events include skating, sledding, COVID-friendly refreshments, a bonfire, music, snowshoeing, kick sleds and fat tire bikes. Adopt a Garden Program on Committee will be forming and adopt a garden program to help maintain flower gardens at city parks. Lino Lakes YMCA Reimagining City staff have been attending a series of community engagement meetings designed to reimagine the YMCA in Lino Lakes. This facility has been struggling to maintain its services in an economically stable way, exacerbated by the COVID Crisis. Centennial Fire District Fire District Organizational Study The preliminary results of the study will be shared with the Operations Committee in late December. Duty Crew In an effort to ensure there is an effective response force to respond during the daytime hours, the Centennial Fire District implemented a Applications for the position were posted and four candidates have been selected. The four who were selected are metro departments (Lake Johanna, Andover, Minnetonka, and SMB Fire) who currently have the same program. The Duty Crew will rotate from station to station within the district and respond to emergency incidents between The duty crew will also assist with duties assigned by the Administrative staff. This program will greatly enhance the emergency services provided to our communities.
