City of Centerville <br />EDA Minutes <br />December 16, 2020 <br />Executive Director Statz shared, with the commission, his email correspondence with Bar and <br />Restaurant owners. <br />VI. REPORTS <br /> <br />1. <br />Executive Director Statz spoke about social settings that have <br />been in place for the last three weeks have now been extended into mid-January. Outdoor dining <br />is allowed, and fitness places may open with some restrictions. <br /> <br />At the last City Council meeting, a motion was passed to rebate on-sale liquor licenses on a <br />prorated basis. In April the city rebated two mont <br />the annual fee. City Council gave Executive Director Statz the authority to do the same for this <br />was today. For 2021 Council decided to cut the <br />liquor licenses in half based on uncertainty and the probability that there will be capacity <br />restrictions for a lot of 2021. <br />The City Hall remodel is expected to be finished in January and he hopes to be open to the public <br />in February. <br />There are two openings on Planning & Zoning Commission. Members must be residents of <br />Centerville. <br /> <br />The City is still looking for adopt a garden volunteers. Mrs. Love has signed up along with the <br />Scouts. <br /> <br />Anoka County Regional and Economic Development Commission (ACRED) held an online <br />seminar today with approximately 60 attendees, in which we were able to present our study on the <br />tech corridor. . <br /> <br />The CenterStage program continues to make progress. Executive Director Statz stated that when <br />there is a new business in town, he has been putting them first in line for the next ads, and that Jets <br />Mechanic Shop had a grand opening recently. <br /> <br />Over $258,000.00 went to local businesses through the Business Relief program. Executive <br />Director Statz complimented Commissioner Giovinazzo for talking to his neighbors at the strip <br />mall, stating that they applied and were granted money because Mr. Giovinazzo took the time to <br />talk to them. Mr. Statz said he would like to try to this approach again with latest package and <br />have every commissioner call ten businesses to talk with them one on one. The latest CARES Act <br />package was five million and the package coming from the state is approximately seven million to <br />the county, and there will be more focus on restaurants and fitness places this time. <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz stated that the city was able to spend all $304,902.00 of its CARES Act <br />money by splitting up various interests, giving some to the police and fire departments, and <br />keeping some for staff time.
