<br />City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />January 6, 2021 <br />committee meeting. It has been recommended that 2 members of the Park & Recreation Committee be <br />assigned as liaisons to this committee. <br /> <br />Mr Branch would like to send messages to the principals of both the elementary and middle schools <br />regarding holding the annual logo contest in April. He would also like to wait before securing details <br />pertaining to the races. He will also be holding off requesting park permits, contacting the race timer, <br />etc. He expects the kayak race will also be continued. <br /> <br />th <br />Committee Member Peterson, P & R liaison from 2020, attended and reported on the January 6 Fete <br />des Lacs committee meeting which reviewed the main points of planning from 2020. A suggested theme <br />is “Local Heros” <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member Bettinger to appoint <br />Committee Member Petterson as liaison to the Fete des Lac Committee for 2021. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />nd <br />Hopefully a second liaison will be appointed at the February 2 P & R meeting. <br /> <br />2. Music in the Park – Committee Member Peterson <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Lee is stepping down from chairing this event, but will assist Committee Member Peterson, the <br />new chairperson, with help in securing the bands, etc. Mr. Lee's band is planning to play one of the <br />evenings. Prior participants will be contacted and also will need to look for other bands that might be <br />interested. Ms. Ronnie Olson can help with the marketing & promotion of these weekly events. <br />Administrator Statz will review the budget to determine the funding for this event. There is a possibility <br />of adding a translucent backdrop for the stage/behind the performers on the gazebo. <br /> <br />The schedule begins on Tuesdays, from June 1 through July 27, 2021. <br /> <br />VII. APPROVAL OF DECEMBER 2, 2020 MINUTES <br /> <br /> Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member Seeley to approve <br />the minutes of the December 2, 2020 P & R committee meeting as written. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />VIII. UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Staff Updates – City Administrator Mark Statz: <br />Mr. Statz provided a comprehensive written report, dated December 9, 2020, of activities and updates <br />for the City of Centerville including the pending completion of the City Hall remodeling with an <br />anticipated opening of February 1, 2021. <br /> <br />2. Council Liaison Updates – City Council Member Michelle Lakso <br />No update was given, however discussion took place regarding comments that Committee Member <br />Peterson had received feedback that the current equipment was in poor condition, outdated and smaller <br />than desired. Chair Waeghe commented about structure sizes in surrounding community parks and felt <br />that the item should be again addressed when the capital improvement plan is discussed. Council <br />Member Lakso stated that she had experienced audio issues and would like to comment on the equipment <br /> <br /> <br />
