City of Centerville <br />Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />April 7, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Weatherhead, EDA Commissioner, presented the background information and a proposal to <br />purchase and display welcome banners on several downtown city light poles. Out of 44 available <br />light poles, 27 were determined to be appropriate, with the proposed locations and other <br />information presented to the P & R committee members. There are two (2) sizes of double sided <br />banners with 8 designs that reflect recreational opportunities. EDA has allocated $5,000 towards <br />the purchase and installation of these banners and would like to have them installed by Memorial <br />Weekend. An additional cost would be the rental of a bucket truck for installation. The banners <br />have a 3 year warranty and will remain in place year round. The committee members liked all <br />the images with the possibility of replacing the snowmobiling image with ice skating or cross <br />country skiing. Also discussed was the possibility of the purchase of two (2) entrance banners. <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member <br />Freiermuth to recommend to the City Council to support the proposal, by the EDA <br />Commission, for the purchase of welcome banners. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. 21-002 - Music in the Park - Tuesdays June 15, 2021 thru August 17, 2021 (no show <br />Aug 3, 2021 <br /> <br />Committee Member Peterson reported that five dates have been booked, June 15, 22, 29, July 13 <br />th <br />and 20, with three dates yet to be booked and not sure about July 6 (week of 4 of July). <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Bettinger <br />to approve the dates of the Music in the Park beginning June 15, 2021 through August 17, <br />2021, skipping August 3, 2021 (Night to Unite). All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ms. Lonnie Olson has offered to help with the promotion of these events. She provided <br />information regarding street signage which includ <br />4' wide A-frame at a cost of $502.04. She recommends purchase of 2 plastic A-frame kits. Cost <br />of additional inserts, for other events, needs to be determined. It was suggested to obtain <br />additional quotes for this type of signage. <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member Seeley to <br />recommend to the City Council to approve the allocation of funds to purchase One (1) <br />plastic and One (1) metal A-frame sign kits at a total cost of $502.04. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Statz provided the following information for the Rehbein Commercial project on 22 acres <br />including the proposed Belleville Apartments, Norbella Senior Living and a Kwik Trip with two <br />(2) additional lots being vacant at this time. <br /> <br />a. Sidewalks & Trails: There are some sidewalks and trails existing along some roadways <br />adjacent to the plat.
