<br />Committee Vacancy <br />The parks committee has one open seat and is looking for candidate. Please apply on the <br />Application for Committee Appointment <br /> <br />Thursday Waterski Shows and Street Market <br />Given the uncertainty of the Bald Eagle Wate <br />and Rec Committee voted to discontinue planning of this event for 2020. Even though <br />some farmers markets are continuing with social distancing guidelines in place, it seemed <br />wise not to try to kick off a new event with such cumbersome restrictions. With much of <br />the groundwork laid, the committee feels that it will be something that they can jump into <br />next year with a good head start. <br /> <br />Staff is working with County staff to push our grant funding for this event to 2021. <br /> <br />Street Light Donation <br />Parking lot lighting will be discussed in conjunction with the City Hall renovation project. <br /> <br />Music in the Park <br />At this point, the Parks and Recreation Committee would like to continue planning for a Music in the <br />Park season, with a few sensible social distancing rules in effect. This event seemed to be one that <br />rictions and still be worthwhile. We are <br />looking at pushing back the start of the season by two weeks, to mid-June. <br /> <br />Staff has requested refunds for our annual licensure through ASCAP and SESAC in the event <br />that Music in the Park is cancelled. <br /> <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> <br />Centennial Lakes Police Department <br />Chief Search <br />Baker-Tilly has received around 30 applications for the position and has identified 18 <br />qualified candidates. A 3-stage selection process was recently presented to the Police <br />Governing Board and will culminate with interviews of 4 to 5 candidates by the board. <br /> <br />Annual Report <br />ted to the Police Governing Board on May 11 <br />and will be presented by Chief Coan at the May 27 City Council meeting. In general, <br />most crime statistics did not show major ups or downs. There was a slight decrease in <br />Level 1 Crimes (violent crimes), while there was a slight uptick in narcotics arrests and <br />citations. The report also outlined the many community engagement activities in which <br />the department participates. <br /> <br />COVID-19 <br />Officers are focusing on providing highly visible patrols, making sure to circle through <br />neighborhoods and let folks know they are still safe. Violent crimes are still being taken very <br />seriously, and arrests are still being made. <br /> <br /> <br />
