Dupre Artifacts
Staff from Anoka County will be viewing the Dupre Artifacts on August 21, 2018 to
begin formulating a plan for display of some of them at Wargo Nature Center.
FETE DES LACS
The committee intends to have a wrap-up meetingon August 20, 2018.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Anoka County Multi-Jurisdictional All Hazards Mitigation Plan Public Meeting
City staff will send a representative to this meeting.
Centennial Fire District
All firefighters now have new 800 mhz pagers. They were received at no cost to
thedepartment, after Anoka County was awarded a grant to purchase them.
Centerville’s fire station is staffed with 18 volunteers and has one new recruit in
EMT classes at the moment.
Centennial Lakes Police Department
Ourpolice department attended most of the Night to Unite gatherings around
town.
We have asked our officers to add extra enforcement on people speeding or not
obeying stop signs as they cut through downtown to avoid the back-up at Main
StreetandCenterville Road, during the afternoon rush hour.
Over the course of the summer, the department has been working on a few waves
of petty theft from autos. Our police believe that the rash of car entries this
summer has been solved by the arrests of two teenagers, but that the case remains
open as they seeka third suspect. Since the arrests, there have been no further
instances orauto entries.
A note from thechief: Much like we have experienced in the past and in all three
of our Cities the car entries are generally “crimes of opportunity” with culprits
simply trying unlocked vehicles left out at night. On the one hand it is nice that
people feel safe here, but it does bring complacency in terms of residents not
locking homes, garages, and vehicles. The people committing these crimes are
usually young people (teenagers) who live locally or within walking distance of
their crimes.
