ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/PLANNING
Economic Development Authority
The first EDA meeting was held on August 27, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Regularly schedule
meetings will now be on the third Wednesday of the month, meaning the next meeting
will be September 19, 2018. An operating budget of $20,000 is being proposed for 2019
as part of the city’s general fund budget.
Officers were elected and initial terms of office were set as follows:
President – Jeff Hanzal – 4 year term
Vice President – Jim Weatherhead – 5 year term
Treasurer – Gary Spanier – 3 year term
The offices of Assistant Treasurer and Secretary can be assigned to non-members and
were, therefore, given to Bruce DeJong and Teresa Bender, respectively.
Quad Area Chamber of Commerce
City staff assisted the Chamber by
distributing flyers and pamphlets with info
on the Chamber and an upcoming
networking event to be held at Kelly’s on
th
September 27. The chamber would like to
get more Centerville businesses to be a part
of the group.
Comp Plan
Our consultant and I have been through all
comments from Met Council and others
developing an approach to addressing them.
We each have chapters to revise and will
meet again to compare notes and finalize
responses.
Peltier Estates
Staff received a call from an attorney for the developer, working on finalizing
Homeowner’s Association Documents. We are hopeful this is a sign that the
development is moving forward towards construction.
Ruffridge Johnson
The first lift of paving on site is
now complete. Work continues
on final grading, weather
permitting. Interior office
framing is almost complete and
a target date of October has been
set for substantial completion.
