<br />January 23, 2019 <br />________________________________________________________________________ <br />ADMINISTRATION <br />Newsletter <br />To address some concerns over the cost of printing a color newsletter, staff did two things <br />with the most recent edition. First, we limited the document to 2 pages, cutting our costs <br />in half. Then, we published the summary budget as the lead story. This fulfils our legal <br />requirement to publish it, but saves the cost of putting it in the paper (about $100). <br />Certainly, when we have enough important content, we will look to continue the normal 4 <br />page newsletter, but this time around, we felt that we could accommodate our needs in 2 <br />pages. This is just an example of the ways city staff is continually looking for ways to <br />balance costs and service to the public. <br /> <br />Local Board of Adjustment and Equalization <br />th <br />The Local Board of Adjustment and Equalization meeting has been set for April 24. It <br />will be held as part of the C <br />hall. This meeting is an opportunity for resiheard on the valuation <br />y staff will be on hand to answer resident <br />questions. Advanced notice of this hearing will also be published in the paper and other <br />media outlets and opportunities to meet with our assessor, ahead of the hearing, are also <br />accommodated. <br /> <br />Centennial Public Schools <br />City staff and attorney have been in contact with school officials and are making progress <br />towards the resolution of their final plat issues. <br /> <br />Part-Time Receptionist Position <br />The open position has been advertised in the local papers, on Facebook, Twitter, our <br />website and the League of Minnesota Cities website as well as on our reader board <br />outside city hall. We have already received a number of qualified applications and are <br />st <br />excited to interview potential candidates. The application period runs through the 31, so <br />if you know of anyone, please have them apply. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />Economic Development Authority <br />The EDA held a joint meeting with the Planning and Zoning Commission to entertain <br />proposals from developers on the city-owned, vacant, Block 7 property in downtown at <br />their meeting on January 16. The developer (Apollo Development / Truline <br />Construction) explained their vision for a 3-story, 63 unit, market rate apartment <br />building, with underground parking. Both commissions engaged with the developer in <br />discussions regarding architectural treatments, market trends, retail options, trail access, <br /> <br />
