April 10, 2019
________________________________________________________________________
ADMINISTRATION
Minnesota Mayors Association 2019 Annual Conference
onference, presented through the League of
Minnesota Cities April 26-27 in Stillwater. The conference includes topics such as
economic development and workforce readiness as well as an address by the Governor.
Centennial Public Schools
Our city attorney has now drafted a letter issues surrounding the
een sent to the School District and County
Surveyor. We hope that this letter can lead to a resolution of the issue.

Part-Time Receptionist Position
Please stop in some time and welcome our new receptionist, Katie Hogan. She brings a
wealth of experience in front desk work, customer service and office management.

Rebranding
The Rebranding Committee held a kick-off meeting on Tuesday, March 26 and had a
follow-up meeting on April 2. The committee consists of Mayor Paar (CC), Jim
Weatherhead (EDA) and Nick Twohy (P&Z). Mr. Twohy has a background in marketing
and has been a part of over a dozen rebranding exercises. He was able to lead the group
through the initial stages of that process, which will culminate with a worksheet that
conveys all of the elements of our brand. The committee will seek final input on this
document from other stakeholders. Then, we will work with a graphic designer to take
those attributes and values and put them into a logo and tag line. Finally, the committee
will outline how and where the brand is to be used.

Potential Special Election
At a work session on Tuesday, the Anoka County
Board has decided to conduct an internal search process to replace the outgoing county
administrator. They will formally vote on the search process at the board meeting next
Tuesday, April 9. The terms call for the job to be posted for 10 days, and all county
employees with supervisory experience (including those that have left the county within
the last 5 years), as well as elected county officials can apply.
Given the possibility that Commissioner Sivarajah may ultimately be selected for the
position, we will continue to prepare for a potential special election in Anoka County
Commissioner District 6. I will be working with management to determine the
approximate timelines for when this search process might conclude and when they expect
an offer to be made and approved by the board. In the event that Commissioner Sivarajah
is appointed as county administrator, it is my hope that we could pass the resolution
