calling for a special election at the same time (or as soon as possible thereafter) to
trigger the start of the special election calendar.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Anoka County Regional Economic Development (ACRED) Marketing Committee
I attended a Marketing Committee meeting recently and got up to speed on the
ing on creating some promotional videos,
expanding on our Broker Event and developing a Business Retention and Expansion
strategy.
Minnesota Technology Corridor
The MN Tech Corridor group met again, this time to talk transportation needs. County
Engineers from both Anoka and Washington Counties got together along with the cities
in the corridor. The meeting was very productive, and should lead to some synergy
between transportation plans from the two counties and all the cities. Good conversation
was had, as well, about the future of interstate access points along both 35E and 35W. A
summary of the transportation issues discussed is attached to your City Council packet.

Economic Development Authority
The EDA met in a joint session with the Planning and Zoning Commission to review
downtown redevelopment proposals. They also recommended moving forward with
Trident Development.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Comp Plan
Comments on our submitted plan have now been received from Met Council. City staff
and our consultant are working to address them. None of the comments appear to be
substantive.
Peltier Estates
No recent news.
Waterworks Site/DeFoe Property
Significant progress has been
few weeks. We also saw a first draft of the Landscaping Plan, which has been a long
awaited part of the overall development plan. We are hopeful all final documents will be
ready for final approval at the next City Council meeting and that we can finally record
the plat and start issuing building permits as soon as the frost is out of the ground. We
received a revised certificate of insurance for the property.
Old Mill Estates
City staff and the developer continue work
documents, prior to bringing a Final Plat forward for approval. Significant progress has
been made on these documents in the past few weeks.
