` - Administrator/Engineer's Report
dei teryAe August 28, 2019
E,,ta-th isli E d Ic5'ii
ADMINISTRATION
Connect Anoka County
Several years ago, Anoka County and Zayo (a fiber -
optics company), partnered to bring high speed fiber
optics to the county. They received a $17 M grant AnekaCoun
ick
from the federal government to do so. Part of the
requirements of that grant were to hook all of the municipalities and other government
agencies in the county together with the fiber optic ring. The city gets its internet through
this system at a much lower than market cost. The network equipment that runs this
system resides in each municipal building. We have equipment in our Audio/Visual
closet attached to Council Chambers. Below is an informational note, from the county,
about the planning process for replacement of that equipment. There is no direct cost to
the city.
Anoka County is hosting a technical presentation for our partners in the Connect Anoka
County fiber network. This meeting will provide insights into the network equipment
refresh process, and lay the foundation for a smooth transition for all our partners. A
representative from Zayo, the fiber ring provider, will also be participating in the
presentation.
Meeting topics include:
J Project Plan review
J Timeline
J Migration Process
J Partner Expectations, including:
➢ Scheduling
Site Access
Site Preparation
J Q & A Session
Centennial Public Schools — Centerville Elementary School Plat
The school district is now working with their surveyor to prepare the necessary
documents to include the disputed "gap" in the survey in their plat. The process should
take about 8 weeks.
Rebranding
The rebranding committee met on July 9 and kicked off the process of logo design, with
our graphic artist. We hope to have drafts for the committee to look at in the next few
weeks. The next meeting has been set for September 18.
