Local Government Aid (LGA) Tutorial Video
Councilmember D. Love shared this video with me and thought others may be interested
in learning more. Centerville receives about $76,000 in LGA, or about 0.3% of our
annual revenue. https:Hccxmedia.org/news/explorin -lg ocal-government-aid/
Anoka County Board Special Election
The following are the candidates for the vacant seat for our County Board (Dist. 6):
• Kevin Ryan
• Cindy Hansen
• Craig Johnson
• Jeff Reinert
• Donovan McGuire
• Karen Lodico
The schedule for the special election is as follows:
Absentee Balloting Begins - Primary
46 days prior to primary election
Friday, September 20, 2019
Primary Election Day
PRIMARY DAY
Tuesday, November 5, 2019
Primary Canvass
3 days after primary day
Friday, November 8, 2019
Absentee Balloting Begins - General
46 days prior to election
Friday, December 27, 2019
Special Election
ELECTION DAY
Tuesday, February 11, 2020
Canvass
7 to 10 days after election
Tuesday, February 18, 2020
Absentee Voting
Times:
8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Friday unless otherwise noted
10:00am to 3:00 pm on the Saturday before Election Day
8:00 am until 5:00 pm on the Monday before Election day
A request to have the county reimburse cities for the cost of this election was sent to the
County Administrator. Several local city administrators felt that this should be
considered since the vacancy was created by a direct act of the county board, not through
pure happenstance. We received a response from Administrator Sivarajah stating that
they "...will not be adjusting our policy based upon how or who caused a special election
to occur."
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Quad Area Chamber of Commerce
The chamber has been active at city festivals and has hosted several well attended Lunch
and Learn events. Additionally, they have been adding new members and are gearing up
for a busy fall.
