an opportunity to be heard. Instead we were dismissed because “revenue”
and the goal to “add an apartment building” took priority over the people.
Instead of being heard, we were argued with.

There were several disturbing aspects of this meeting.
- Linda B - “There are 50 some people on this call. That
includes some of us and people from Lino Lakes, so we have an
obligation to represent the 2000 people that are not on this call.”
Really?
- “We have a goal to increase the population in Centerville and
we have a goal to add an apartment complex.” Do the people
matter?
QUESTIONS - What is the purpose of the Planning and Zoning
Commission? What’s their mission? How about the City Council?
What about the community in which they represent? If the
changing of the height restriction to move from 35 feet to 43 was a
given, then why did it need to be voted on in addition to the vote to
rezone and divide?

- This was not due process. Honestly, what I witnessed was a
coerced vote. There were at least 3 members of the Commission
who stated, after hearing the views of the local businesses and
members of this community, they disagreed with the decision to
add a carwash and the 4-story apartment complex. They were
completely berated, by Linda and Ben, at minimum, until they
reluctantly complied. Is that how it works in Centerville?
- Ironically, the fact that they are planning to have a rooftop
deck on the roof was omitted from the conversation.
- Why would anyone plan to put a 4-story apartment building
right next to a Senior Assisted Living Center and a brand-new
development not even finished being built yet?
- The studies that have been done to date are inaccurate. As
one example, assuming a 103-unit complex would have less than
200 people, less than 2 people per unit on average for all 103
units is highly inaccurate.
- For 5 straight hours, members of the community – no matter
whether they are on this side of the line or that – spoke and
vehemently expressed their opposition. The response was to be
argued with and not heard. Is this in the best interest of the
community?

I have several questions that were not addressed before the Planning and
Zoning Commission voted. I am respectfully a response to the following and
praying the City Council members have a different process of voting and
taking the public into consideration. WE found it very disappointing that Linda
B. dismissed those of us who landed (barely) on the other side of the line. I
know Centerville uses Lino Lakes amenities and shares much in public
service areas. I know the City of Lino Lakes raised many questions on this as
