<br />City of Centerville <br />Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />May 5, 2021 <br />The May meeting was rescheduled to Monday, May 10, 2021, due to the Governor updating/relaxing the <br />COVID Restrictions on Thursday, May 6, 2021. There was no appointment of a second liaison for the <br />Fete des Lacs Committee. <br /> <br />a. Logo Art Contest & Other Information <br /> <br />At this point about 100 total entries have been received from both the elementary & secondary schools. <br />The judging will be done by Mr Branch & Committee Member Errickson-Grahek by Monday, May 10, <br />2021, selecting the top three from each school, with the results to be published in the local newspapers. <br /> <br />b. 5K/8K Runs <br /> <br />Ms. Nissa Larson, Running Ventures, will be the timer again this year. The rules were discussed, but <br />more will be known after the Governor's speech on May 6, 2021. It was anticipated that some of the <br />previous guidelines would be relaxed, however an award ceremony may not happen following the runs. <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member Errickson- <br />Grahek to recommend the City Council approve the submission of an application for an Anoka <br />County Permit and for the City of Centerville Permit for the 5K & 8K Runs. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />c. Paddle des Lacs <br /> <br />Sanborn Canoe will be sponsoring this event and donating a new handcrafted paddle as a prize. May <br />need the Scouts to help with this event. Centennial Fire District has acquired a boat and they may be <br />willing to provide their services on the water. <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee Member Seeley to <br />recommend the City Council approve the submission of an application for an Anoka County <br />Special Use Permit and for the City of Centerville Permit for the Paddle des Lacs. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />d. Parade <br /> <br />The current Parade Coordinator has stepped down and a new volunteer is needed as soon as possible. <br />Committee Members were asked to think of people that might be interested in that volunteer position, <br />including Committee Member(s); high school students and that these individuals would be needed prior <br />to the parade and the day of the parade. It was stated that there is a volunteer sign-up sheet on the Fete <br />des Lacs page. <br /> <br />2. 21-002 - Music in the Park <br /> <br />a. Food Truck Availability <br /> <br />It has been suggested to add food trucks to this weekly event, that they would not need a special license <br />and that there were concerns for generators interfering with music. Discussion ensued regarding the <br />possibility of Fiesta Cancun offering alcoholic beverages. However there was a concern that this was a <br />Page 5 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
