City of Centerville <br />Park & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />July 7, 2021 <br />Administrator Statz explained there are three areas of funding: Operating and repairs, Capital <br />Improvement and Capital Outlay, in general fund budget, for replacement of items. The funds for the <br />Capital Improvements are from Park Dedication fees received from developers and average $3,000 per <br />lot or unit built. Mr. Statz asked that each Committee Member review this document, think about <br />additions to be made to it and prioritization of projects. This will be added to the September agenda. <br /> <br />In addition, it was brought up that additional water fountains should be placed in each park with a <br />on also included purchasing of recycled products, <br />quality signage guiding park users of through the parks along with trail connectivity making parks <br />more bike friendly. <br /> <br />VI. NEW BUSINESS <br />1. mmittee Member Peterson <br /> <br />Scheduled for Saturday, September 18 with a rain date of September 25 at sunset, approximately 7:30 <br />p.m. The cost of the movie will be approximately $400 with $350 for projector rental plus $50 for <br />snacks. There was discussion ensued regarding providing a propane powered bon fire and Scout <br />recruitment. <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Member Bettinger, seconded by Committee Member Akpan to schedule <br />the Movie in the Park for Saturday, September 18, 2021 with a raindate of September 25, 2021 <br />and authorize a budget of up to $800 for the cost of the movie, projector rental and <br />snacks/incidentals. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. al Little League & Centennial Soccer Club <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Bettinger, seconded by Committee Member Peterson to <br />approve the request by the Centennial Little League for an extension of time for the use of the <br />fields at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for practice and games. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member <br />Akpan to approve the request by the Centennial Soccer Club for the use of both Laurie LaMotte <br />Memorial Park and Acorn Creek Park on Monday through Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., <br />from August 2 through November 1, 2021 for their soccer practices, based on a more specific <br />schedule to be provided. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. Wild Parsnip <br />4. <br />Committee Members Peterson and Seeley brought up the possibility of wild parsnip in Centerville. <br />Each Committee Member should be able to identify this plant and report it to Public Works Director. <br />It was stated that this is a very dangerous plant to human skin and can cause long term health issues. <br /> <br />VII. APPROVAL OF JUNE 2, 2021 MINUTES <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Bettinger, seconded by Committee Member Peterson to <br />approve the minutes of the June 2, 2021 with the following corrections: correct typos and obtain <br />an enhanced biography from Administrator Statz for former Committee Member Waeghe.
