CITY OF CENTER VILLE <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />Department: Administration <br />Accountable To: City Administrator <br />Status: Non -Exempt Date: August 2021 <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />Performs responsible work: Assists the City Administrator in performing their duties and will <br />assume a leading role on various initiatives or with various committees as assigned by the <br />Administrator. From time to time, this position is expected to do work of a confidential nature and <br />to perform job duties in a responsible and professional manner; to employ initiative, diplomacy, <br />judgment, and to exhibit a thorough knowledge of general City policies, practices and ordinances. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED: <br />Works under the direct supervision of the City Administrator. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED: <br />Part time clerical as assigned. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />Administrative Responsibilities <br />• Assume the lead role for one or two Committees, including primary responsibility for the <br />creation of agendas and meeting packets. Attend the meetings of those committees as the <br />staff liaison, produce minutes of the meetings and follow up on action items. <br />• Receive complaints and inquiries from residents in person and over the telephone, <br />responding courteously and ensuring prompt, appropriate action is taken. <br />• Research Council or Committee initiatives and prepare memoranda outlining background <br />information, research, conclusions, costs, and proposed next steps. <br />• Assist the City Administrator in the compilation and production of the City Council, <br />Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic Development Authority, Parks and <br />Recreation Committee and other meeting packets as assigned. <br />• Responsible for the coordination and follow-through on projects as assigned by the City <br />Administrator. The projects could include contact with residents, City Council, Appointed <br />Committees, consultants, City Staff and the staff of other governmental agencies. <br />• Coordinate and prepare content for newsletters, Administrator's Reports and other external <br />communications. <br />• Assist the City Administrator with development and zoning administration, such as <br />ordinance revisions, comprehensive land use plan amendments, subdivisions and other <br />planning or zoning issues. <br />• Assist other administrative staff with duties normally assigned to them in an effort to <br />balance workloads. These duties may include tasks in: Human Resources, Accounting, <br />Communications, IT, filing, and others. <br />• Share receptionist and other office management duties with all office staff. <br />
