City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
February 24, 2021

Administrator Statz noted that one of the things they just learned with the fire study was that their
dispatch time is a bit concerning and thinks the average dispatch time was just over 3 minutes. He
stated that he would like to explore that in greater detail and noted that it was across both Circle
Pines and Centerville. He noted that he wanted residents to be aware that the 5 minutes 26 seconds
timeframe was not from the time they call 911. He stated that he would also like to point out that
the City is lucky that is has a choice in EMS providers and had overlapping options between M
Health and Allina. He explained that the City used Allina for a number of years who had
contracted out with North Memorial and the City has now switched to M Health. He stated that
the City is not obligated to remain with M Health and has the freedom to switch back if they so
choose. He explained that one other thing to point out is that the ambulance service does not cost
the City anything and is something that M Health makes from their charge for services to the
patient or their insurance company. He stated that M Health is paying rental fees for use of the
fire hall. He stated that he would like to have representatives from M Health report to the Council
at least annually and perhaps every 6 months.

VI. PUBLIC HEARINGS

1.
