CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: November 10, 2021 Parks and Recreation IX.4 TITLE OF ISSUE: Skating Rink Lighting Proposal BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Last week, the Parks and Recreation Committee recommended approval of a proposal to install two poles, each with two LED flood lights to better illuminate the skating rink (Pleasure Rink) at LaMotte. This rink is well used and more reliably has ice ready for skating earlier and later in the season than the hockey rink. It is currently lit with only two lights, both from a fair distance away, making for less than desirable illumination. The Committee is not recommending replacement of the bulbs on the Hockey Rink Lights at this time. Costs for this were shown in the proposal, but energy savings may not be realized due to lower usage of lights than assumptions used in the quote. These additional lights are on the Parks Capital Improvement Plan (see attached). This is the second of two quotes gathered for the work. The first was substantially higher.
