City of Centerville <br />EDA Meeting Minutes <br /> January 19, 2022 <br /> a. Check List <br />Executive Director Statz provided an overview of checks, noting that there was an error with check <br />number 000013E to VZ Wireless-Web Pay in the amount of $255.00. The Bank was unable to <br />explain why the charge occurred but confirmed that a credit would be issued in the amount of <br />$255.00. Mr. Statz noted that there were not any checks needing approval, so no motion is needed <br />at this time. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Communications <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz introduced Assistant City Administrator Athanasia Lewis and shared that <br />several of her goals for this year involve economic development. Mr. Statz also introduced Jr <br />Council member Danny Peterson, a junior at Centennial High School; Danny attended the last City <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VI. REPORTS <br /> <br /> 1. AdministratorÓs Report <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz reviewed the AdministratorÓs Report as presented, adding a couple of <br />updates. Mr. Statz reported that Block 7 (also referred to as Sorel Quarter) is the first <br />redevelopment project incorporating the look and feel envisioned in the 2006 Downtown Master <br />Plan; the project also achieves density and affordability goals. Mr. Statz noted that the Atlas Villas <br />Memory Care facility located at 1824 Main Street anticipates opening in April of this year (this <br />information was available after the staff report was written). <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz noted that on the 2050/2070 Main Street project Council approved a <br />rezoning and CUP permit for the site to allow a building supply company to occupy the building <br />and the site next door and anticipate site build out and tenant build out are anticipated in the Spring, <br />barring any unforeseen circumstances. Progress on this project is contingent upon sale of the <br />property. <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz reported that the total allotment of the Biden-Era Ðby-outÑ package is <br />approximately $450,000. The spending term is longer than the CARES funding package. The City <br />has until the end of 2023 to spend the funding, noting that the money can be used for anything, <br />excluding a Ðrainy dayÑ fund. The City will receive the money as lost revenue and use it to fund <br />general government improvements, such as street/parking enhancements at City Hall. <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz reported that the City is still offering ½ price water hook-up for <br />businesses. President Hanzel inquired about the possibility of extending the program to residents. <br />Executive Director Statz communicated that the City has offered similar programs to residents in <br />the past, however federal aid attaches certain requirements to the funding. There are currently <br />about one hundred residents without City water Î it might be a good time to evaluate options. <br /> Page 5 of 5 <br /> <br />
