City of Centerville Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes February 2, 2022 4. 22-003: Centennial Community Ed - Art in Park, Etc. Î (Families/Youth) Sub-Committee Members Akpan, Errickson-Grahek and Kubat have met several times and suggesting completing an Art in the Parks project for families/youth in conjunction with the Main Street Market. It was stated that materials would be needed (i.e. rocks, chalk, paints, acrylic pens, etc.) and the fee for participation would be $20/adult w/child and $7 for each additional child. It was felt that the event would last approximately one hour. Several other suggestions were discussed, including the construction of bird/bat houses, a Story Walk through Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park tentatively scheduled for July 16, 2022 coordinated by the library, Summer Camp activities/programs and the possibility of a Halloween Fund Run coordinated in conjunction with the Centennial School Community Education Department. IX. ACTION ITEM UPDATES Î as of 02-05-2022 The Port-a-Pot in Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park is being heavily used, however, the unit in Cornerstone has not seen as much use. It was determined to leave both units in place for the remainder of the winter. Lighting on Pleasure Rink Î project completed, but could add decorative lights and also speakers on poles for sound. Committee Members liked the ideas. Eagle Park Tree Removal Î has been approved and will begin within approximately a month. Need to develop a plan for each additional park. Prioritize safety of park amenities. Fete des Lacs Î may discontinue Sunday activities due to low turnout except paddle event. The Lions may provide Karaoke on Friday evening along with fireworks. They are also considering a band for Saturday evening. A Parade Coordinator and a 5/8K Run Coordinator are needed.
