City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
January 26, 2022

Administrator Statz stated that his report was contained in the packet and that he would be happy
to answer any questions that Council may have. Mayor Love noted that he enjoys reading the
report, thinks it is laid out very well and that members of the public feel more informed.

2. Council Reports

a. Lakso -
i. Anoka County Fire Protection Council - No report was given.
ii. Parks and Recreation Committee - No report was given.

b. Koski –
i. Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski stated that the
committee met last week and reviewed the 2021 budget, which was about
$5,900 over budget. He stated that Chief Smith would be retiring at the end
of April, and that there would likely be a joint board meeting coming up.
ii. Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski stated there
has not been a meeting since the last council meeting and that there would
be a public hearing at the next meeting.
c. King –

i. Economic Development Authority – Council Member King stated that the
EDA discussed the 1737 Main Street building design with apartments
above; the plan does not fit the comps. An alternate scenario with
condominiums and business suites was also discussed. He stated that the
EDA would look at alternative options and reintroduce the buildings to
market smaller operations (restaurants, etc.)

He also stated that the EDA also discussed the website. Council Member
King noted that Athansia had great ideas and showed the committee several
websites highlighting various features and functions. Council Member King
noted that he liked the Tennessee (Collierville and Athens) sites, as well as
Lino Lakes and he is looking at other things for the entire website.

He also stated that the EDA discussed downtown apartments. Administrator
Statz added that the general idea is to have an architect go through the
existing buildings and give an assessment of their overall condition of the
buildings and what it would take to bring them up to code.

d. Mosher -
i. Economic Development Authority – Council Member Mosher stated the
EDA was interested with the presentation by Mr. Mike Brass on 1737 Main
Street, noting that Mr. Brass went through many scenarios and he is curious
about the condominiums with three (3) businesses. He noted that Athanasia
presented different things with the website and she had done her research,
so we can take the best of everyone’s sites and have a cool website down
road.
ii. Police Government Board – No report was given.
