City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 9, 2022 <br /> <br />very well. He also He reported that the Lions Annual Fishing Contest would be <br />held on February 19, that there would be prizes, food, beverages and that he hoped <br />people would participate. <br /> <br />i. Police Governing Board – Council Member Mosher stated that the <br />meeting took place on Monday and provided a brief update stating that <br />Chief Mork commented about the wellness of officers, both mentally and <br />physically and allowing them working out during their regular shift hours. <br />He stated that they were approved for a grant for radio replacement. <br /> <br />e. Love – <br /> <br />i. North Metro Telecommunications Commission – Mayor Love gave no <br />report. <br />ii. Police Governing Board – Mayor Love reported that Chief Mork was <br />designated the official spokesperson for the Police Department and if there <br />are any incidents, he would be the first to speak, then if he would need any <br />assistance, it would be Administrators and Mayors. <br /> <br />Mayor Love stated that he recently had an opportunity to sit on a panel <br />before newly elected officials. He stated that as part of the panel, they <br />allowed questions from the attendees. He reported that one of the questions <br />was: Has your view of policing changed over the past 5 years? Mayor Love <br />stated that he replied “no” and that he was fortunate to live in a small <br />community where we share the police with other cities that have the same <br />goals of protecting and serving the community. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that he was notified by the Chief that our agency <br />assisted a neighboring agency with an incident where three deployments of <br />less than lethal tactics were used to subdue an individual to protect them <br />from harming themselves or others. He stated it is a wonderful example of <br />bravery shown by our officers to resolve the situation peacefully and <br />effectively. <br /> <br />Mayor Love also desired to thank the Centennial Fire District for the <br />services that they provided. He also want to thank Council Member Mosher <br />for extending the use of him home to the family that was involved. <br /> <br />Mayor Love stated that he recently had an opportunity to meet with the <br />Scouts and reported that it is always interesting to hear from them and what <br />they envision the City to be in the future. <br /> <br />Mayor Love stated that recently had the opportunity to visit Washington <br />D.C. and met with Rep. Emmer and a Congress Woman Tina Smith. <br />Discussions took place regarding items that impact cities, shared stories on <br />how ARPA funding was being spent locally and a large amount of <br />conversation on making life easier for small cities.
