City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 9, 2022 <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Lewis reported that she was working on a grant matrix that would <br />assist in resource availability for future projects. <br /> <br />Ms. Bender reported that she has forwarded ordinance educational letters to residents recently <br />regrading sidewalk shoveling. Mayor Love asked about elections and re-districting. Ms. Bender <br />stated that Centerville is not affected by the re-districting as we only have one precinct but that a <br />resolution would be forthcoming. <br /> <br />Attorney Glaser stated that their firm was going to hire a new victim specialist to assist in <br />prosecution services prior to the pandemic and Ms. Katie Swartz has now filled the position as a <br />paralegal with a social worker background. <br /> <br />Jr. Council Person Peterson reported that the boys’ varsity team was out of their losing streak with <br />a win over Andover recently and that all is going well at the Centennial High School. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />a. Lakso – She reported that she attended the Advanced Elected Officials Leadership <br />conference through the League of MN Cities. She stated that if focused on crisis <br />communications and felt that the League has fantastic resources. <br />i. Parks & Recreation – Council Member Lakso stated that there was a <br />robust conversation regarding the updating of the website and that she was <br />grateful for staffs focus on the item. <br /> <br /> b. Koski <br />i. Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski stated that a <br />public hearing was held for a Maxi Storage facility on February 1, 2022. <br />He explained that the facility is unlike a mini-storage facility but more for <br />businesses with larger equipment, step vans, RVs, etc. He stated that the <br />Commission tabled the public hearing allowing additional public input if <br />anyone desired to attend. He stated that it was an interesting concept. <br /> <br />ii. Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski asked Administrator <br />Statz if the City had received any announcement of the Chief’s retirement <br />and Administrator Statz stated not as of yet. <br /> <br />c. King <br />i. Economic Development Authority – Council Member King asked <br />Assistant City Administrator Lewis if she would going to discuss the web <br />site update with the EDA, she replied that she would be on February 16. <br />She stated that she received feedback from the Parks & Recreation <br />Committee and has provided them with two (2) additional weeks to get back <br />to her. She felt that she would have a vendor approved by Council in March. <br />ii. Fire Steering Committee – Council Member King gave no update. <br /> <br />d. Mosher – He stated that there was a house fire two (2) doors down from his home <br />and that the Centennial Fire District did an amazing job and handled the situation <br />Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
