City of Centerville <br />Council Work Session & City Council Meeting Minutes <br />December 8, 2021 <br /> <br />explained that the County would be providing property valuations in March with a Board of Appeal <br />and Equalization meeting taking place in April. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding fiscal disparities, residential versus commercial/industrial property <br />values, the proposed $66 increase in city property taxes on an average home, a zero percent <br />increase in the County’s levy, feeling that the increase was reasonable and affordable to <br />individuals, the newly constructed home(s) lag time for being taxable in the following year, how <br />Centerville rated versus other communities of being in the middle of similar sized communities in <br />the county and that was a modest increase with a responsible budget. <br /> <br />Additional discussion ensued regarding the presentation and its ease, thanking staff and Council <br />for their dedication to the budget, being fiscally responsible and concerns for not having a spike in <br />taxes. <br /> <br />Mayor Love provided an opportunity for audience members to speak on the item. Without hearing <br />anyone to provide input. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Koski, seconded by Council Member Lakso to Close the Public <br />Hearing at 7:38 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Love stated that Ms. Susan Vento was present so Council would provide her with an <br />opportunity to address them. <br /> <br />VI. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES <br /> <br />1. August 25, 2021 City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Love provided an opportunity for Council to make modifications to the minutes if desired. <br /> <br />Mayor Love stated that he did not believe that it was a Special meeting and Administrator Statz <br />concurred. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Koski, seconded by Council Member Lakso to Approve the <br />August 25, 2021 City Council Meeting Minutes as Amended. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />VII. CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />Administrator Statz provided a recap of the modifications and due to the cancellation of the second <br />meeting in November. He explained that the expenditures were typical monthly expenses. He <br />briefly reviewed them with Council. <br /> <br />1.
