The proposer must have at least one person available to GPS each tree injected on private <br />property for inclusion in the city's tree inventory. Each proposer must provide a list of three (3) <br />municipal or public agency references. <br />Tree inspections <br />Tree inspections shall be performed prior to recommending treatment to residents. These <br />inspections must be performed by a person who is at minimum, a Certified MN Tree Inspector <br />or an ISA Certified Arborist. Individuals recommending treatment must be qualified to identify <br />emerald ash borer in the field and have experience evaluating tree condition, particularly as it <br />relates to determining which trees are suitable candidates for injection and which are not. <br />Treatment of trees exhibiting the following conditions must be approved by the City Forester: <br />• More than 30% canopy decline <br />• Signs of severe decay in trunk or major branches <br />• Major cracks in trunk or major limbs <br />• Fungal fruiting bodies present on trunk <br />INJECTION DETAILS <br />Chemical <br />• Injections must be with a liquid formulation of 4% emamectin benzoate <br />• All label directions for chemical product used must be followed. <br />• At a minimum, trees less than 22 inches DBH shall be treated with 2.5 ml of 4% <br />emamectin benzoate solution/inch DBH, trees greater than 22 inches DBH shall be <br />treated with 5 ml of 4% emamectin benzoate solution/inch DBH. <br />City trees <br />The City may be utilizing contractor tree injection services for 0-100 trees on any given year. In <br />2020, the City treated 100 trees at approximately 1,500" DBH total. The City intends to continue <br />to treat boulevard trees with City staff, but may supplement these treatments with contractor - <br />performed injections. Contractor injections may not be required at all, they may account for a <br />portion of injections, or they may perform all injections on City trees. Decisions about which <br />City trees to treat, if any, will be at the sole discretion of the City. <br />Residents' trees <br />Injections performed on residents' privately owned trees will be driven by public demand, so <br />numbers of treatments for these trees will not be available at this time.
