<br />City of Centerville <br />Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes <br />February 2, 2022 <br />and Seeley would be volunteering at the event. Committee Member Freiermuth stated that she may be <br />able to attend. Discussion ensued that the volunteers should arrive between 5-5:30 p.m. allowing ample <br />time for preparation for the event. <br /> <br />Weather and ice conditions will be determined on the Friday prior to the event. Cancellation notification <br />will be provided by City staff via the website, calendar and social media outlets. <br /> <br />2. 22-001: Music in the Park <br /> <br /> a. Performers <br />Committee Member Peterson stated that he will be contacting several performers in the upcoming weeks <br />to begin the scheduling process. <br /> <br /> b. Food Truck Schedule <br />Ms. Lonni Olson provided the Committee with a schedule of food and dessert vendors that will be at the <br />events. She has scheduled seven (7) vendors offering a variety of food items with two (2) vendors being <br />present per event. Placement of the vendors will be discussed at a later date. <br /> <br />VI. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. 16-026: P & R Website <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Lewis stated that staff has been evaluating options for a redesign of the <br />City’s website. She stated that within the website, the Parks & Recreation will have committed <br />pages/location. She provided a presentation of sample city websites (Maplewood, Brooklyn Park, <br />Lexington and Circle Pines in an attempt to ascertain the Committee’s feedback for their desired features, <br />aesthetics, functionality, etc. <br /> <br />Committee Member Akpan volunteered to coordinate responses from members and communicate with <br />Ms. Lewis to streamline the process. <br /> <br />2. 2022 Logo Contest (Fete des Lacs) <br /> <br />There were questions regarding the ongoing process for funding award money for the annual logo contest. <br />It was stated that Ms. Lonni Olson assumed these responsibilities from former Run Coordinator, Mr. Pat <br />Branch and is looking to commence the contest through the Centerville Elementary and Centennial <br />Middle schools as in years past. It was stated that historically, approximately 90 to 100 students at each <br />school participate. It was also stated that generally the Mayor has made presentations at the schools <br />honoring the winners and presenting them with their award money. It was reported that with COVID <br />limiting visitors within the schools and availability of the Mayor, this has not been the case and the <br />winners have received their awards via mail. <br /> <br />Lengthy discussion ensued regarding possible presentation of the awards at the Festival, before or after <br />the runs as the logo is associated with the runs/walk and consideration of the process that has been <br />utilized in the past. Discussion also ensued regarding the inclusion of grade K-5 and grades 6-8 children <br />Page 2 of 5 <br /> <br />
