City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 23, 2022 <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Love stated that by supporting the resolution would be forward to our State Senator and <br />Representative. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Mosher, seconded by Mayor Love to Approve the Res. #22-008 <br />- Supporting Policies Related to Public Safety Mental Health as presented. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />Sargent Walberg, Centennial Lakes Police Department was present in the audience and Mayor <br />Love asked him to provide an update. Sargent Walberg stated that the intent is to appear monthly <br />before Council to provide a Department update, that an officer will be leaving the Department in <br />April, recently completed interviews for a CSO, a reserve officer is receiving field training, another <br />officer just completed phlebotomist training and will be available to the Department and County <br />if needed and another officer has just become an instructor for Radar and LiDAR. <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report <br /> <br />Administrator Statz noted that the Administrator’s Report was included in the packet and <br />highlighted that there was a vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Committee, that the Fete des Lacs <br />Committee is looking for volunteers, the City is hiring for Seasonal Public Works Staff and if <br />response goes well maybe more than four (4) will be hired as additional work assignments are <br />needed and that applicants must be at least 18 years of age. <br /> <br />He stated that proposed “Project Banjo” continues to go forward and would be discussed at the <br />next Planning & Zoning Commission in April with a public hearing being held in May. Council <br />Member Mosher asked if they received any information about the 40 acres, parking lot, the <br />building and taxes. Administrator Statz stated that all of this information would be discussed at the <br />Planning & Zoning meeting along with an overall layout of the project. Mayor Love asked if the <br />development was one (1) lot and Administrator Statz stated that this lot will be platted. Council <br />Member King asked how long would a traffic study take and Administrator Statz stated that they <br />have a draft study completed with additional review to follow. He did report that their submittals <br />were very thorough. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Lewis - Assistant City Administrator Lewis reported that she is <br />working to schedule a Veteran’s Day event and stated that she was excited to work with the EDA <br />on their goals and objectives. <br /> <br />Attorney Glaser – Attorney Glaser stated that Friday, April 29, 2022 was Anoka County Law <br />Day. He explained that during COVID the event was not offered. He stated that the program <br />provides individuals with free assistance/clinics for: Family Law, Immigration and Conservatory <br />(i.e., wills, etc.) He stated that the Family Law portion is fabulous. <br /> <br />Junior Council Member Peterson – Mr. Peterson stated that the following week all juniors who <br />signed up for taking the American College Testing (ACT) would be completing it and that all <br />sophomores were taking the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) testing. <br />Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
