VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES <br />We are searching for volunteers to serve on two of our Boards and Committees. There is an opening on <br />our Parks & Recreation Committee, and one on our Economic Development Authority (EDA) Board. <br />Volunteering is an excellent way to get involved in the community, and connect with others. Information <br />about meeting schedules is listed below. Please call city hall at 651-429-3232 with any questions about <br />these opportunities! <br />• Parks & Recreation Committee — Open Seat <br />o Meets monthly on the First Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM, in chambers. <br />• Economic Development Authority — Open Seat <br />o Meets monthly on the Third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM, in chambers. <br />PARKS AND RECREATION <br />Strategic Plan <br />If you would like to give input, we are always happy to receive your thoughts. Just give us a call or email <br />us at: infoLcentervillemn.com <br />Fete des Lacs <br />Annually, the Fete des Lacs Committee gets together to review the good, the bad and the ugly from the <br />festival, with the hope of making the celebration even better next year. If you have input on what you <br />liked or didn't like, please email us at: infokcentervillemn.com <br />Volunteer Appreciation Event <br />The second annual Volunteer Appreciation Event is being planned for September 15, 2022 at Hidden <br />Spring Park. An alternate location has yet to be determined if rain is experienced. Food, drinks and <br />appreciation items will be provided to volunteers for their service to their community. This is one event <br />that thanks those individuals that give of themselves to make Centerville great throughout the year and a <br />wonderful place to live, (Fete des Lacs, park monument flower beds, Main Street Market, Music in the <br />Park, serving on a Committee/Commission and Council). <br />Emerald Ash Borer <br />Several trees have been treated by Rainbow Tree Care within the City and <br />` its local parks as a way to slow the spread of the bug and providing time <br />for diversification of types of trees for replacement and strategic planning. <br />The Committee forwarded their recommendation to Council for <br />acceptance of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a preferred tree service <br />provider that treats healthy trees as a preventative measure to deter infestation. Rainbow <br />Tree Care has submitted pricing within their RFP, a guarantee, customer recommendations, etc. If Council <br />approves, the proposal will be available to residents through the website and all social media avenues of <br />the City. <br />Monument/Donation Policy <br />The Committee forwarded their recommendation to Council for approval of a Monument/Donation Policy <br />which will guide Staff, the Committee and the donor through the processes, expectations and requirements <br />associated with a monetary or material donation. <br />
