City of Centerville <br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />June 7, 2022 <br />VI. OLD BUSINESS <br />Atlas Villas Memory Care Interim Use Permit Extension <br />Administrator Statz introduced the item, noting that the developer is experiencing supply chain <br />issues, construction spikes, and labor shortages like many others, and as a result of these conditions <br />the developer would like an extension on their Interim Use Permit. <br />Motion by Commissioner Kubat, seconded by Commissioner Olson to extend the <br />Interim Use Permit for a period of two years or a Conditional Use Permit, whichever <br />comes first. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />VII. NEW BUSINESS <br />1.Emerald Ash Borer – Ordinance Review <br />Administrator Statz introduced the item, noting that the Emerald Ash Borer (AEB) is here and has <br />become problematic on public and private property. Discussion ensued about various diseases <br />impacting trees and hazard prevention. The Commission agreed that ordinance revisions should be <br />expanded to include all diseases impacting trees, not just AEB; the Commission also agrees that <br />hazard prevention should be emphasized in the ordinance revisions. The Commission would like to <br />review this item further, and would therefore, like to hold a public hearing on this issue. <br />Motion by Commissioner Olson, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to hold a public <br />hearing. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />2.Committee Continuity Discussion <br />Administrator Statz reportedthattwo members of the Commission would like to step down due to <br />schedules. The two commissioners agreed to serve until replacements can be found. The <br />Commission agreed to approve posting for the upcoming vacant seats. <br />Motion by Commissioner Kubat, seconded by Commissioner Olson to approve posting <br />of the vacant seats. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />3.Rescheduling of July 5, 2022 Meeting <br />th <br />The Commission discussed alternate dates for the next meeting due to the July 4 <br /> holiday. <br />The Commission selected July 19 for their next meeting. The Commission also moved their August <br />and September meetings to allow more spacing between meetings. The meeting date is August was <br />moved to August 16 and the meeting date in September was moved to September 13. <br />Motion by Commissioner Olson, seconded by Commissioner Kubat to reschedule their <br />July meeting to July 19, their August meeting to August 16 and their September <br />meeting to September 13. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />4.Population 5000 Discussion <br />Administrator Statz reported that at the council’s retreat the council expressed interest in taking a <br />closer look at population 5000. Discussion ensued about density on available, developable land. <br />Various build-out scenarios were discussion, and commissioners discussed pros and cons of <br />reaching a population of 5000 or more.
