City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 8, 2022 <br />Parks & Recreation – Council Member Lakso stated that they are <br />organizing and planning for the volunteer appreciation event. She stated that <br />Music in the Park would be starting June 14 and it will include food trucks. <br />She stated that the Committee also had a robust discussion about Ash trees <br />and the Emerald Ash Borer. Administrator Statz stated that the committee <br />requested staff to obtain quotes for a preferred vendor that the City could <br />recommend treatment to residents. He stated that we do have a preferred <br />vendor and we were able to negotiate a price. He reported that the City <br />would be treating some trees this year and would come back next year with <br />a long term management plan. He reported that there are several trees <br />within parks that will also be treated. Administrator Statz reported that the <br />P & Z Commission is reviewing an ordinance regarding diseased trees as <br />the City’s current Code addresses specific diseased trees and their removal. <br />Some concerns should be public safety/hazards, etc. <br />Anoka County Fire Protection Council – Council Member Lakso stated <br />that they have a new records management system technology upgrades as <br />the existing system is antiquated. <br />b. Koski – <br />Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski stated that they talked <br />about not just Emerald Ash Borer but all diseased trees. He reported that the <br />Commission also discussed population 5,000 and how it should fit into their goals. <br />He stated that the Commission will be having two (2) openings and they are looking <br />for members. <br />Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski gave no report. <br />c. King - <br />Economic Development Authority – Council Member King gave no <br />report. <br />Fire Steering Committee – Council Member King gave no report. <br />d. Mosher – <br />Police Governing Board – Council Member Mosher gave no report. <br />Economic Development Authority – Council Member Mosher stated that <br />the meeting would take place next week. <br />e. Love – He stated he wrote an article for the paper last week asking people to <br />volunteer. He reported that Centerville Self Storage recently had a ribbon cutting <br />ceremony where Council Members Koski and Lakso attended, along with EDA <br />President, Jeff Hanzal. He also reported that he visited Centerville Elementary and <br />Centennial Middle Schools to present awards to the winners of the logo contest for <br />Page 7 of 8 <br /> <br />
