He noted that this is a 3.7% higher than the 2022 certified <br />levy and reminded Council that due to new construction, the increase will be spread over a wider <br />tax base with most parcels experiencing a lower tax increase than the 3.7%. He reported that the <br />budget would be considered at the second meeting in September. <br />Mayor Love reminded the audience and Council that once the Preliminary Budget is approved, it <br />can be reduced but not increased. Finance Director DeJong concurred. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the formula used to calculate the Police budget, hiring difficulties, <br />etc. <br />III.
