PARKS AND RECREATION Volunteer Appreciation Event Preparations for the second annual Volunteer Appreciation Event are being completed. The event has been rescheduled, CarboneÓs will be catering the event with refreshments and dessert being provided. Invitations will be forwarded shortly to those that have provided the City with assistance in its many events/areas throughout the year. It is still planned for Hidden Spring Park. The City appreciates their volunteers and this is one way we recognize them for serving. Emerald Ash Borer Do you have Ash Trees? Are you aware of the Emerald Ash Borer? Are your trees dying and you do not know why? Do you know the types of trees in your yard? They could be Ash and the City Council just approved Rainbow Tree Care as the CityÓs preferred vendor for the treatment of Emerald Ash Borer. They are offering reduced pricing for treatment, a guarantee, etc. Halloween Hustle 5K/Trunk or Treat Event The cityÓs Parks & Recreation Committee and EDA have collaborated with the Centennial Community Education and Centennial Alumni Association to offer a ÐTrunk or TreatÑ event on October 29, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Centerville Elementary School parking lot following the annual Halloween Hustle 5K. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and hand out candy, small items, promotional material, etc. The Centennial Lakes Police Department and Centennial Fire District will be on-site to interact with the kids. Veterans Day Ceremony Î Save the Date Save the Date for our upcoming Veterans Day Ceremony, which will take place on November 9 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at City Hall. Staff is working on working on a new museum exhibit that honors our veterans, and we need your help. Do you have memorabilia of your time in the military? Of a grandparent or sibling? Maybe you have a diary, some letters, a medal, a uniform, or a picture? Did they bring anything back from overseas when they served? Remember, a "veteran" isn't just for wartime or foreign service.
