At the same meeting, in which the interviews were conducted, the committee <br />makes a formal recommendation to be forwarded on to the City Council for <br />appointment, as required by city code. <br /> <br />A few things that could be considered: <br />Should the interviews of candidates be conducted by the committee with the <br />vacancy, or should the City Council or some subset of the Council and/or <br />Committee conduct the interviews? <br /> Should the interviews be conducted at a work session of either the City Council or <br />Committee. While work sessions are still open to the public, it has not been the <br />CouncilÓs practice to televise them, which may allow the interviewers and <br />interviewee to be more comfortable and conversational, since they are not <br />televised. The vote to recommend and vote to appoint candidates will need to be <br />conducted during a regular meeting. <br />Does the Council wish to have a formal, adopted policy on this issue? <br /> <br />
